Republic of Steak

Republic of Steak is a steakhouse restaurant.

Given the name Republic of Steak, it feels wrong to order anything-other-than-steak. we decided to share a Republic Burger, When the waitress brought the burger to our table, our first reaction was: “you gotta be kidding me!”. The republic Burger is HUGE. For $12.90 nett, the set comes with a drink and one side (choose from coleslaw, broccoli, salad, baked potatoes, mashed potato, fries, potato salad, onion rings, buttered rice).
The size of the deep-fried onion floss probably made a difference to the overall image of the burger, but still, it was a 200gm beef patty topped with streaky bacon, melty cheese, crunchy lettuce and fresh tomato.

Republic of Steak is a pretty decent place for good western food, U can try the Angus steak ($19.90) and some of the other main courses like Norwegian King Salmon ($13.90), Pork Ribs ($18.90) and Breaded Chicken ($6.90).

Tom’s Palette at Shaw Leisure Gallery is a local ice cream parlour which specialises in homemade ice cream with very unique and exotic flavours. Are you game to try ice cream flavours like Longgan Red Date, Sarsi, and chrysanthemum?

Tom’s Palette is known for their exotic ice cream flavours.
Sarsi-flavoured ice cream was somewhat like root beer float, with subtle hints of Sarsi. With a darker shade of green, the chrysanthemum had a very distinct and clean sensation.
Salted Caramel Cheesecake was divine: soft and slightly melted, the silky smooth with an airily light cheesecake taste.
The Melt & Sizzle Berries and Chocolate Pops; chocolate pop gave a sizzling sensation, and it felt as though the chocolate was dancing on the tip of my tongue.
Chocolate Sorbet. It was bitter, and much darker than the Imperial Dark (made of 95% Dark Chocolate) that I tried at Galta’s Gelato.

Cook-off recipes - Dessert

Banana Turon Y Crema with Blueberry
by Cotton Bleu (Serves 3-4)

Ingredients: 3 ripe bananas, peeled n halved lengthways, ½ cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp cinnamon powder, 5 pieces spring roll pastry, 4 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream 1 box fresh blueberries, ¼ cup caster sugar, 4 cups vegetable oil, for frying ¼ cup sliced almonds, toasted ¼ cup water.

Methods: Mix brown sugar with cinnamon powder and roll banana slices in the mixture. Individually wrap sugar coated banana halves in the spring roll pastry and seal the ends with some water. Heat vegetable oil in a shallow pan and quickly fry bananas on high heat till they turn a uniform golden brown. Cook blueberries in a pot with water and caster sugar until it achieves a soft, syrupy texture. Set aside and leave to cool and thicken. Cut fried banana pastry into halves and serve hot with a generous scoop of Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream topped with blueberry sauce. Garnish with toasted almonds.

Crepe Making

It's New Year!! My first new year post, Ya lets kick off a healthy lifestyle.
Crepe making for yr light breakfast or a combination for yr dishes e.g. like wrap beijing duck even DESSERT.
Crêpe Mix: 1 cup Plain Flour, 1 pinch Fine Salt, 2 Eggs, 1¼ cup Milk.
To prepare the crêpe mixture, sieve plain flour and a pinch of salt into a mixing bowl and make a well in the centre. Add eggs n ½ cup milk, beat into a thick mixture. Gradually fold in ¾ cup milk, continue beating till mixture is smooth. Heat and brush a small pan with oil over medium heat, and ladle a bit of crêpe mixture in the centre. Swirl pan around so crêpe mix spreads over the entire surface. Gently flip crêpe when edges start to turn brown. Remove after a few seconds. Wow.. la! its Done!
