Banana... nana....na

Goreng pisang
Servings: 4
4 bananas
1 Tbs cooking oil
6 Tbs sugar
2 Tbs cold water
6 cups cooking oil
2 Tbs sesame oil

Batter:
1 egg
4 Tbs cornstarch
5 Tbs flour n cold water
Beat the egg in a small bowl, add cornstarch, flour and cold water, then mix well to make the flour batter.
Peel the bananas, and cut each banana into 5 diagonal pieces. Dip each banana piece into the flour batter to coat it. Deep fry the pieces in hot cooking oil for about 1 min, or until they are golden. Remove the bananas and drain off the oil from wok. Brush the serving plate with some sesame oil. This will add extra aroma and the banana fritters tend to not stick to the plate.
Heat 1 Tablespoon of cooking oil in a wok, add sugar and water, and stir fry over low heat until it turns into syrup. Turn off the heat, add the bananas, and mix carefully. Remove the bananas from the wok onto a plate to serve.

Banana Balls
3 bananas mashed and sprinkled with 1 tsp lemon juice to keep from discoloring
1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder n confectioners' sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cup milk
1 egg
Confectioners' sugar
Sift and mix all dry ingredients. Whisk together the milk and egg; add to dry ingredients. Fold in the mashed bananas. If too thick add a little milk, and if batter seems too thin, add flour. Batter should have consistency to mound up in a spoon. Heat deep fryer to about 375° or add 1 inch of oil to a deep pan.
Drop batter by spoonfuls in small batches. As fritters brown on one side, turn once. This will take about 5 – 8 mins. Drain on paper towels. Keep warm and just before serving sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar. Serve warm with syrup, if desired. Serves 10 to 15

Dessert - bread pudding

bread pudding
Bread pudding recipes were developed when food was hard to come by. It is a way to make stale bread taste fine and dandy.

Ingredients
2 cups stale, but not dry, bread
1 quart milk
¼ tsp salt
2 eggs
½ cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla / ½ tsp cinnamon

Soak the bread in the milk until very soft, and then mash it fine. Heat til nearly boiling. Beat the eggs until light and add in the sugar, salt n vanilla. When well mixed, stir this into the bread and milk. Pour into an earthenware baking dish, set in a pan of water, and bake 45 minutes at 325 degrees.

1. For chocolate bread pudding, melt two squares of chocolate over hot water and add this to the soaked bread and milk.
2. For bread pudding with raisins, add one-half cup raisins.

You can add fruits, nuts, and even a drop or two of whiskey or other strong liqueur.
OR use cream instead of milk -Try old doughnuts or sweet rolls in place of the bread, but you may want to reduce the sugar amount at the same time -Bread pudding recipes can be made with just about any type of bread – wheat, French, or sourdough.

Cny coming

With e economy recession looming, the mood for celebration toned down. My workplace nearby is having annual ‘New Moon SALES’. But this time round, I decided to cut down the luxuries n buying necessaries. Bird nest n abalone is a No no. I bought a few canned foods for cny. Not buying any ‘Bak kwa’ bbq meat but lucky for ppl give us hehahah… there is lots of goodies to eat, pineapple tarts I love most . In office, I got to eat kuek lapis. Never thought that kuek lapis from smiling orchid can be quite nice, I only known of Lavender n Bengawan Solo are nice. One whole cake can be quite costly, abt 40+ - 50.

Today I had book an appt for my hair dye n highlight, trimming n plus trmt. Although ppl often say hair salons are packed n highly priced in cny period, I still think its impt to look groomed in this period. Somemore this yr is my first time in giving out angbaos.

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE
(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever'). (8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying F-- YOU!
(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

New Year

Me n my hubby spent our New Year countdown with a wedding dinner. It can be said a reunion for his classmates cos the wedding couple are his old friends. The dinner last till veri late n ended with a countdown. We continued our celebration in the hotel rooms that the couple had provided for us, not to mention his liquor too… hehehhahah….
All of us are pretty drunk n growling stomach hehahaha since we could do nothing about in the wee hours. We decided to sleep it off as we want to ward off the police spot check. My hubby n I left for home abt 5+ / 6am. Just wake up now, still tire with a bit of hangover.
